Marketing & Communications Strategist

Shrader Stone is a family-owned historic stone masonry and natural landscape design company based in Lynchburg, Va. We are committed to creating unique projects, building partnerships with our community, and providing lasting value for our clients.

We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Strategist who appreciates sustainability, craftsmanship, and natural landscapes. The strategist will translate our story and knowledge into creative campaigns primarily across social media and email marketing channels. This contract position requires between five and fifteen hours a week depending on season and current objectives. Work schedule is flexible.

Position responsibilities:

  • Works directly with company owners to communicate our design and build ethos and industry knowledge across email, social media, and websites.

  • Establishes an engaging blog and email program, including creating and implementing an editorial calendar, editing content, and evaluating metrics.

  • Creates, edits, and produces short videos and Instagram reels

  • Manages all aspects of social media, including creating content, engaging with audience, and evaluating insights.

  • Produces and repurposes content using tools such as Adobe and Canva

  • Works with office manager to create marketing materials, promotional products, and professional project photos.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Highly creative self-starter

  • Appreciation for craftsmanship, gardens, or outdoor living

  • Keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and appreciation of great design

  • Ability to work independently and regularly report on progress 

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising, or related discipline OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in digital marketing and/or strategic communications.
